Excerpt: There can be no doubt in the minds of literally everyone reading this, Ameer Ali is going to be attacked for his words, and may even receive death threats - many from so-called moderate Muslims that read and take the Koran, literally.

To All:

The Muslim are in dire need of an ecumenical council in order to keep up with the times. It will be difficult to bring the Koran from the 7th Century to the 21st Century, but it will be worth their effort ... if they intend to continue to thrive on this planet.

With Aloha,

I have been following this story on Robert Spencer's Jihad Watch site. FYI another Muslim has stated that Ameer Ali is to be treated as though he is ostracized over his comments.

Also, this is the same man who wanted Hezbollah to be taken off the terrorist list claiming that they are freedom fighters.

There is a real need for reform within Islam but there are still too few that will make the effort to look inwardly and then at the world around themselves to see the poor image that Islam has maintained because of the violence.

So long as they deny that Mohammed was a very violent man, or that violent Jihad is advocated in the Koran, then there cannot be any move forward.

As far as Ameer Ali is concerned, I doubt that there will be too many who will listen to him.

Unfrortunatly, this Ameer Ali guy is a lightweight in the world of Islamic scholarship.

A single scholar can do little; a real debate is needed, but there is too much oil fueling the fire of hate. Litterally.

Islam is now the hostage of people who are pursuing their own demagogic agendas.
