Acts of war and terrorism in the name of God is predominatly a Muslim characteristic. By spreading the blame to everyone you are obfuscating the real problem of militant Islamism. If there is a solution, you are making it harder to find by not accuratly defining the problem." |
To which I add that I agree somewhat with "Bindar" yet understand the Father's point that most faiths have gone through trials and tribulations and have evolved from those dark "times" in the past - we've all made mistakes.
However, having contexturalized the point within the framework of the modern world, radical Islam has never evolved from the dark ages, and it is the dark plague of radical Islam that Father Patrick falls short in adequately addressing. Radical Islam is the source of the terrorism blanketing the globe, and until it is dealt with, the problem will not only grow, but do so exponentially.
What is needed is a growing cohort of priests, rabbis, and clerics speaking out to their flocks with the same message" Love, tolerance, and embracement of life is what God intended for us. Hate, intolerance, and disdain for life in order to destroy one's enemy simply out of hate - has absolutely nothing to do with God. Moderate Muslim clerics need to be telling the ummah that Allah has nothing to do with that which is preached by the Islamists. A few have spoken out, but damned few. How to we get them to speak out? Are they afraid?
