Florida Woman Paid For 2 Health Care Plans After She Couldn't Disenroll From Obamacare

Topics: Political News and commentaries

She found it impossible to cancel her plan through and says she was blown away that they had not thought forward enough to realize that people are going to disenroll, She goes on to point out that this is going to be a common problem.

Melissa Battles needed healthcare for herself and her son but without a full time job she turned to Obamacare.

"I enrolled online and it is very convoluted and takes a very long time to enroll online," said Battles.

She qualified for a subsidy but was bounced back and forth on how much her autistic son qualified for in help.

"Then I was supposed to go through the process of trying to get him enrolled in Healthy Kids and that was a whole other level of red tape," said Battles.

But then things started to look a little brighter or so she thought.

Battles got a full time job with benefits. She went to her insurer Florida Health Care Plans to cancel her Obamacare policy. She was told she had to disenroll through; however up until a few months ago there was no way to do that.

"I was blown away that they had not thought forward enough to realize that people are going to disenroll. This is going to be a common practice,"

When Battles finally did get help to disenroll from they told her it would at least a month; long after her other coverage had already started forcing her to pay twice for healthcare.
