Veteran Who Lost Hand And Legs In Combat Gets Bill For $4,825 From VATopics: Political News and commentaries
I can't wait to hear the VA's excuse for what has to be a bureaucratic screw-up that will be addressed immediately!
Ross Kaminsky writes at American Spectator:
Senior Airman Brian Kolfage was perhaps the most severly injured airman (US Air Force) ever to survive a war.
His story, which can (and should) be seen in a truly moving video at the top of this page, is truly inspirational.
After being gravely injured by a rocket attack in 2004, SrA Kolfage lost both legs and his right hand, and suffered terrible injuries to his other hand and his torso.
Between remarkable medical treatment by military doctors at Walter Reed Medical Center and what must be an indomitable spirit, Brian has made a nearly miraculous recovery. He skis and swims and lives a full life -- with his beautiful bride.
And last week, Brian received a bill from the Department of Veterans Affairs demanding payment of $4,825.
While I'm inclined to ascribe this outrage to simple VA bureaucracy, we can't forget that this is the administration that still classifies Major Nidal Hasan's terrorist attack on Fort Hood as "workplace violence."
