Union Lose, Boing Wins, as Union Members Vote Themselves Out of Jobs
Topics: Political News and commentaries
There's simply no better way to put it than to say that union bosses and their membership needs a simple course in the basics of business economics ... or even basic math. That, and essentially voting to increase the costs of a project before it even starts is just plain stupid. The result is ... rather predictable.

WASHINGTON -- Looks like unionized industrial engineers and other workers will be out of a job soon. The union representing workers that would help build Boeing 777X airliners voted 67% against non-union labor for the project. If you have trouble answering the last sentence, you just might be one of those union members that just voted themselves out of a job ... and don't even think about signing up for this show.Reuters reported that the International Machinists' Union hailed it as a victory for their workers, but Boeing quickly responded and said they will move their business elsewhere.
These union workers will now be out of a job, which is exactly what Boeing warned them would happen if they pursued union labor in this extensive, 20-year project. Now Boeing is looking its options, ranging from right-to-work states like South Carolina to Japan.
Will the union bosses get the last laugh? Or will Boeing?
