Union Lose, Boing Wins, as Union Members Vote Themselves Out of Jobs

Topics: Political News and commentaries

There's simply no better way to put it than to say that union bosses and their membership needs a simple course in the basics of business economics ... or even basic math. That, and essentially voting to increase the costs of a project before it even starts is just plain stupid. The result is ... rather predictable.

Via AIM:

WASHINGTON -- Looks like unionized industrial engineers and other workers will be out of a job soon. The union representing workers that would help build Boeing 777X airliners voted 67% against non-union labor for the project.

Reuters reported that the International Machinists' Union hailed it as a victory for their workers, but Boeing quickly responded and said they will move their business elsewhere.

These union workers will now be out of a job, which is exactly what Boeing warned them would happen if they pursued union labor in this extensive, 20-year project. Now Boeing is looking its options, ranging from right-to-work states like South Carolina to Japan.

Will the union bosses get the last laugh? Or will Boeing?

If you have trouble answering the last sentence, you just might be one of those union members that just voted themselves out of a job ... and don't even think about signing up for this show.
