Obama Tells Marines Al-Qaeda Is Near 'Defeat,' 'Decimated'

Topics:

President Obama has returned to pressing his longtime 'phony' narrative that al-Qaeda is on the run ... telling Marines at Camp Pendleton this afternoon that he was there to mark the war in Afghanistan entering "the final chapter."

Not lost on irony is the fact that this comes just days after his administration having issuing a sweeping terror alert that broadly warned Americans against global travel and temporarily closing embassies across the Middle East,

This man is both clueless, and has no problem topping one whopper with another, perpetually. He completely ignores the fact that Al Qaeda's growing terror networks are a bigger global threat than ever before.

This fact is made clear by the following map from Rand (Click image to enlarge):

[...] One significant trend is the expansion of al Qaeda's global network. The leaders of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, al Shabaab in Somalia, al Qaeda in Iraq, and al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (in North Africa) have sworn bayat, or loyalty, to al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and provided him with funding, global influence, and a cadre of trained fighters. None of these affiliate organizations existed a decade ago. But, over the past several years, attacks by these affiliates have increased.
And as a side note, here's what al-Qaeda thinks of Obama's diplomatic retreat from the Middle East (keep in mind that this comes from the liberal rag ... the NYT:
[...] The gloating among jihadists and their sympathizers began last week, right after the United States shut down almost two dozen diplomatic posts across the Middle East in response to a terrorist threat.

"God is great! America is in a condition of terror and fear from Al Qaeda," wrote one jihadist in an online forum. Another one rejoiced: "The mobilization and security precautions are costing them billions of dollars. We hope to hear more of such psychological warfare, even if there are no actual jihadi operations on the ground."

The jihadists are not the only ones who see the new terrorist alert in a caustic light.
