Washington Post Voter ID Poll: 74% Back Photo ID LawsTopics: Political News and commentaries
The result of a Washington Pos poll of a random national sampling of 2,047 adults asking them if they thought asking for photo-ID before voting was a good idea resulted shows that almost three-quarters of all Americans support photo ID laws:
Q: In your view, should voters in the United States be required to show official, government-issued photo identification -- such as a driver's license - when they cast ballots on Election Day, or shouldn't they have to do this?Interstingly, this is essentially the same result Rasmussen's poll got in June of last year. That poll showed that 75% of Likely U.S. Voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification such as a driver's license before being allowed to vote.
Adults -- YES:74% NO:23%
Men -- YES:76% NO: 22%
Women -- YES:73% NO: 24%
Liberals have long trotted out false arguments about voter ID laws, claiming they suppress the vote among those individuals who do not have photo identification ... despite the fact that DOJ and liberal groups that oppose voter ID require photo ID to enter their buildings.
As The Gazette writes:
... Democrats are always the ones opposed to voter ID laws. For a Democrat to come out and support voter ID laws would be political heresy. That's simply because many Democrats want all the illegal immigrants here receiving taxpayer assistance to vote for Democrats. That's why Obama refuses to enforce immigration laws. I think he wants to continue the flood of illegal immigrants crossing our border, give them welfare and expect their vote for Democrats. This is called tax-supported vote buying. As I've said previously, think about it for a moment:
Democrats believe strongly in resurrection because dead voters in Chicago rise out of their graves every election and vote Democrat. To require a picture ID would lessen the vote total for Democrats, pure and simple.
To cash a check, or buy alcohol or tobacco, or enter a casino or bar, one must show picture ID if requested. No problem there, unless you want to cheat. Let's keep our ears open when voter ID laws are suggested and listen to who opposes them.
All of these programs designed to help those same poor potential voters require that you have a government issued ID in order to use them ... and the reason is, of course, to eliminate fraud. This makes perfect sense to any reasonable person, yet the lefty Democrats claim that those same people using ID to access these programs don't have ID in order to vote. In other words ... it's plain and simple - rigging an election is the one and only logical reason for being against voter ID.
- You need ID to get welfare.
- You need ID to get unemployment
- You need ID to get food stamps.
- You need ID to qualify for government assisted housing.
- You need ID for Medicare
- You need ID for Social Security
- You need ID to cash a check (including a welfare check)
