Re: 'Jimmy Carter to address the Democratic National Convention'

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Red meat for the Romney Campaign.

What could be better than the former worst president since before the civil war speaking at the convention, especially in a prime-time slot, of the 'ever-more-toxic-to-his-fellow-Dems-as-each-day-goes-by' of the new 'soon-to-be-worst-former' president since the civil war?

This is a Romney campaign ad just begging to be made.

Little wonder, as Monica Crowley points out, more and more Democrats are skipping the Democrat National Convention in Charlotte to "campaign at home."

Four years ago, the Democrats were in a collective swoon over their presidential nominee. Barack Obama was The One, the messiah-like beacon of "hope and change" who would transcend petty politics, sit above it all, and deign to lead us mere mortals through tumultuous times that he would calm by his very presence. Times were good if you were a Democrat -- your party looked like it would win the White House and the Congress, so worries were few.

What a difference four years makes.

... Obama is so toxic that they don't want to be in stadium-size proximity to him.

... Between Clinton's narcissism and loathing of Obama and Carter's epic failures, what could go wrong?
