Video: Couple Murdered by 'Peaceful' Adopted Son After Arguments Over Occupy Movement
Topics: Political News and commentariesAlthough the AP story reported on in the video conveniently leaves out any reference to the Occupy movement, the SF Gate story notes that the son was spending a lot of time at Occupy Oakland:
Co-workers said Poff and Kamin were having some arguments with their son, some of it having to do with him spending too much time in the Occupy Oakland encampment, but nothing that sounded beyond the scope of typical teenage rebelliousness.
As John notes at Verum Serum, that's all the detail given but it's not hard to imagine the outlines here. Son John is convinced he's saving the world (at mom and dad's expense - as well as that of his schoolwork), and parents prefer he would spend time doing something more constructive.And although we don't know the exact event that triggered the murders, based on these outlines his involvement in Occupy has to be considered a possible significant contributing factor.
