U.S. pressuring Israel to 'avoid Iranian conflict'

Topics: Iran, Political News and commentaries

iran-nuclear-bomb3.jpgThe Washington Examiner reports that top U.S. defense officials are urging Israeli counterparts to "show restraint" with Iran, as part of an effort to "lower the temperature" in the ongoing crisis over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

So what, pray tell, is 'showing restraint' to 'lower the temperature' suppose to accomplish? Is it suppose to somehow magically stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons (that it will most certainly use) to attack Israel ... and even the U.S.? Are the U.S. and Israel somehow made safer by sitting back and ignoring Iran's provocative threats and war-making preparations? Have 'negotiations' and 'sanctions' ever worked with Iran, even one time? Has Iran ever, ever lived up to a single agreement?

The answer to all of these questions is ... of course not.

So why is the administration essentially turning a blind eye to the Iranian threat and acting so loopy?

From the same Examiner report we learn that James Carafano, senior defense analyst at the Heritage Foundation, most likely has the best answer:

"The administration's response to the continuing confrontation with Iran has a bit of Keystone Kop quality to it," "The administration's principle motive appears to be to avoid a conflict ahead of November's elections."
In other words, the the Obama administration is putting reelection ahead of the security of the United States ... and he wants Israel to put his reelection ahead of the security and survival of Israel.

Make sense? Only in the loopy, narcissistic mind of Barack Obama!
