Video: Obama Outright Lied About Republican Senators' Payroll Tax Cut Vote Last Week
Topics: Political News and commentariesToday Obama told reporters, "Virtually every Senate Republican voted against the tax cut last week." But that's a complete lie ... 20 Republicans voted for the tax cut extension last Thursday night.
What Obama also fails to mention is that Republicans want to extend the payroll tax cut (which, if not payed for, would leave Social Security dependent on general revenue and the actions of Congress for its funding rather than workers' contributions - endangering Social Security's future) ... its just that the GOP wants them paid for without a surtax on job creators:
The Republican proposal would institute a three-year freeze on federal civilian worker pay; reduce the size of the federal civilian workforce by 10% through attrition; prohibit millionaires from receiving unemployment benefits or food stamps; and require millionaires to pay full fare for Medicare Parts B and D.
