Obama Administration to Allow Embattled Yemeni President to Receive Medical Care in US

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Obama administration officials have told the New York Times that Yemen's embattled president will be allowed to visit New York for medical treatment, apparently under the pretense that allowing the despised Arab dictator to seek medical treatment in the U.S. removes him physically from Yemen "so there's no way he can meddle in the political process there."

Chalk this up as yet another idiotic foreign policy move on the part of the Obama administration. To get a handle on the likely consequences of such folly, one need only look back on Jimmy Carter's 1979 decision to let the Shah of Iran into the U.S. for medical treatment.

Come to think of it, such similarity with a Carter decision should come as no surprise.
