'Mens Wearhouse' A Corporate Lackey of the Occupy Movement

Topics: Political News and commentaries

This sign was seen displayed in the window of a Mens Warehouse store as the anti-free market #Occupy mobs in Oakland ravaged the city over the last couple of weeks.

Sound reason to take my business elsewhere. As Ed Morrissey aptly notes, we don't need to give our money in trade to people who despise our ability to make free-market choices.

Mens Wearhouse had a choice to stand with the market that made them a success and with their fellow businessmen in the community. They chose to stand on the side of the mobs. I won't stand in one of their stores again. I guarantee it.
Chris Good points out at The Atlantic that the store's decision will likely meet with approval from the corporate HQ:
George Zimmer, founder and chairman of Men's Wearhouse, has repeatedly donated to Democratic candidates in multiple election cycles, including progressives like 2004 presidential candidate Howard Dean and Rep. Barbara Lee (Calif.).

Zimmer is also among the nation's biggest donors supporting the movement to legalize marijuana. Last year, he donated $70,000 to support the Prop. 19 ballot measure to legalize pot in California, according to California campaign-finance records, and his name appeared in the disclaimer on this pro-legalization TV ad.

A big liberal Democrat donor supporting marijuana legalization and the #Occupy anti-free market/anti-capitalist mob of socialists and communists? Not exactly a shocker ... and no better reason to choose to shop elsewhere - while I still have a choice.
