Gaddafi Reportedly Captured (Updated)

Topics: Libya

If this report is accurate, it appears that deposed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has been captured and wounded in both legs. I'm also aware of rumors that Gaddafi has died of his wounds, but at this point have no credible source to link to.

Update: Reuters is reporting that Gaddafi is dead:

Former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds suffered on Thursday as fighters battling to complete an eight-month-old uprising against his rule overran his hometown Sirte, Libya's interim rulers said.

His killing, which came swiftly after his capture near Sirte, is the most dramatic single development in the Arab Spring revolts that have unseated rulers in Egypt and Tunisia and threatened the grip on power of the leaders of Syria and Yemen.

As Robert Spencer suggests, it's likely that the new America-backed regime will compete with the Gaddafi regime in its hatred for America and the West, and become noted for being even more anti-American than he was.

That this is likely the case, look at what's happened in Egypt. Obama's Arab Spring has done nothing but unleash an Islamic mob.
