Breaking on Fox: Eric Holder To Hold News Conference - Moments AwayTopics: Iran
Just now on Fox - ten minutes from now. Re: Terrorist plot against Saudi and Israeli targets on U.S. soil involving Iran.
Update: News conference details turned out to be exactly as promised - Iran has indeed plotted to attack Saudi and Israeli targets on U.S. soil, with the potential of 'hundreds' of U.S. civilian casualties as a result. (Interestingly, near the end of the news conference, a reporter questioned Eric Holder on Fast and Furious. Holder's response was all of about 15 seconds long, after which he turned and walked away. It was obvious that he didn't want to be questioned further about it.)
Clearly, Obama's naive 'hand of friendship' thingy went exactly where every sane American knew it would - absolutely nowhere.
ABC News reports:
FBI and DEA agents have disrupted a plot to commit a "significant terrorist act in the United States" tied to Iran, federal officials told ABC News today.Much more here. The alleged terror plotter, Iranian-American Manssor Arbabsiar, 56, claims he was directed by high-ranking Iranian officials. A second man, Gohlam Shakur, has also been charged and is still at large in Iran.
The officials said the plot included the assassination of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States, Adel Al-Jubeir, with a bomb and subsequent bomb attacks on the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Washington, D.C. Bombings of the Saudi and Israeli embassies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were also discussed, according to the U.S. officials.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in an announcement today that the plan was "conceived, sponsored and was directed from Iran" and called it a "flagrant" violation of U.S. and international law.
Unfortunately, it appears that Holder and company are treating this as a law enforcement issue, despite the fact that this is obviously a case of sabotage at the very least, which ... by anyone's definition, is an act of war. As Ace points out, in Pre-Obama years, this would be treated as an act of war and the reply would be serious punitive airstrikes against Iranian military and government sites.
