Team Obama And Think Progress Can't Read A Simple Bar Graph (Make Clearly Erroneous Accusation About Romney Chart)

I came across a story linked to Team Obama's Attackwatch page last night that should be of interest to our readers. Obama's attack dogs are linking to a story that is claiming a Romney bar graph is wrong. When in fact it is correct but the left-wing group "Think Progress" doesn't know how to read it. Now Team Obama is linking to it. It's very telling that our President and his minions can't read a VERY basic bar graph (note the title of the piece at the link - "Romney Chart Falsely Blames Obama For Job Losses In 2007, 2008").

Knowing that it's people like these that Obama has choosing industry winners with our tax dollars ... Ahhem, losers I should say, is less than comforting.

Bar graphs aren't for everybody, sometimes children in high school chemistry never get it, and obviously this author never did. I just glanced at this quickly and will try to explain it to those that aren't used to reading them.

You see the blue bar on the right side of the red one? That one is labeled 'Obama Recovery' not the red one and certainly not 2007 to 2009 as the author states. If the graph creator wanted to do that he would have labeled the bracket at the bottom 'Obama Recovery'. The blue bar would start at about Jan 2009, and as noted in the key it would end "24 months following"... or around Jan 2011. A big hint is that blue bar can't go to Jan 2012 because time hasn't gotten to that date yet. It would also depict Obama's first 24 months in office, where we lost jobs as depicted by the negative figure: -0.8 and that is accurate. You see the bracket at the bottom that shows 2007-2009? That equals Jan 2007 till Dec 2009 (~3 years) and the blue one starts ~ 2/3's of the way through the bottom bracket or ~ Jan '09. The width of the Red bar doesn't depict a time, rather just the total (net) jobs lost in the recessions as noted in the key because they vary in time. The Red one furthest right happens to be the Bush/Dem congress. The Blue one to the right of it is 2yrs of Obama/Dem congress with stimulus, again as noted in the key. This won't be covered by any credible news organization because it is propaganda.

The author is posting on a bar graph he doesn''t know how to read. It makes me laugh how often the stupidest person in the room points at others to make him/herself feel smarter. The irony is that this story is linked to by Obama's #AttackWatch website and should tell everybody that Obama also doesn't know how to read a simple bar graph.

Maybe this is why we are in such dire economic straits today. I hope this helps. I graduated, with honors, in 2003 as an Engineer from a pretty good school in Worcester Ma. called Worcester Polytechnic InstituteI ... but you don't have to be an engineer to know how to read a bar graph. Team Obama and the so-called 'Think Progress' people should have learned it in high school.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering how long the "Think Progress" (more like not thinking at all) "news flash" piece with the erroneous claim is going to be left up. And, although i hate to sound overly critical, but perhaps the folks at a website called "Think" Progress be doing a lot more thinking, or at least know how to, before they jump to criticize others who know how to (as obviously the Romney people were capable of).
