Gallop: 6 in 10 Do Not Expect Economy to Improve Soon
Topics: Political News and commentariesA Gallup poll out this morning shows that there's a crisis of confidence going on in America, with 77% of Americans believing the economy is no better now than a year ago. 61% see no improvement over the next year and 80% believe the U.S. is currently in a recession.

Gallop finds that optimism about an economic recovery has declined at least marginally among all party groups in each of the last three years. In 2009, at least half of all three party groups thought the economy would improve in the year ahead.

As gloomy as the Gallop poll looks for Mr. Obama's presidency, a new McClatchy-Marist Poll is even worse ... showing the president's approval rating to be at 39% among registered voters nationally.
