Forget About Missing Bush, Are You Missing Mubarak Yet?

Topics: Israel, Middle East News and Perspectives, Political News and commentaries

Forget about the billboards with a waving president Bush asking: "Miss me yet", and people yearning for the pre-Obama "Good Ole' Days" mired as we are in our present jobless penury and all the economic chaos. Are you "missing Mubarak" yet? Apparently Israelis increasingly do.

Last Tuesday, faced with credible intelligence of an impending terrorist attack by Gaza-based Islamic Jihadists working out of the Egyptian held Sinai peninsula, the Naval Arm of the Israeli Defense Force deployed two more warships in its Red Sea border with Egypt to counter the threat, as Jonathon M. Seidl reports in his piece that appeared on The Blaze of August 30th, 2011:

JERUSALEM (AP) -- "The Israeli military says it has sent two more warships to the Red Sea border with Egypt following warnings that militants are planning another attack on southern Israel from Egyptian soil."

"Earlier this week, Israel's military ordered more troops to the border following intelligence reports of an impending attack."

"Israel's home front minister said Tuesday that militants from the Gaza-based Islamic Jihad are in Egypt's Sinai peninsula waiting to attack."

"Gunmen who infiltrated Israel through the porous Egyptian Sinai border killed eight Israelis earlier this month."

"The attack sparked calls to increase security on both sides of the frontier and created new tensions between Israel and Egypt."

"No changes in security alignments were observed on the Egyptian side of the border."

As the AP/Seidl reportage points out, this renewed wave of terrorist attacks on Israel began with the incident earlier in August where Palestinian gunmen infiltrated Israel through the now porous Egyptian Sinai border and killed eight Israelis.

For thirty years, while Hosni Mubarak was in power, the Sinai border between Israel and Egypt has been relatively calm, since Mubarak would not allow any such attacks to originate from Egyptian soil, and the Egyptian Secret Police hunted down, incarcerated or eliminated, Muslim Brotherhood, Palestinian, and other radical Jihadists that could potentially pose a threat to his government and or to Egypt's long standing peace with Israel.

The Mubarak regime may not have been the "Paradigm" for civil liberties and human rights, yet Egypt experienced one of its most prolonged periods of peace and economic stability in its modern history under Mubarak - well since before WW II and the July 23, 1952, Egyptian Revolution that overturned the monarchy of King Farouk, and brought about after two years of political strife and turmoil the ascendancy of Egyptian despot Gamal Abdel Nasser who mired Egypt in his interminable war with Israel. Hosni Mubarak, for all his faults and shortcomings, served as a bulwark against regional Islamist chaos, and was the best ally the United States had in the region and in the Muslim world.

But leave it to our Muslim-sympathizing "Ideologue-In-Chief" not to only turn the back of the United States on our ally Mubarak - throwing him under his notorious bus, but fanning the flames of unrest and revolution in Egypt with his comments and encouragement of Egyptian protesters during the nascent "Arab Spring" and by publicly calling on Mubarak to step down.

When an aged and ailing Mubarak, under pressure from the Obama Administration, finally stepped down, all the jubilant Obama sycophant lapdogs of the Mainstream Media naively rejoiced, quoting the protesters at Tahrir Square chanting: "We are free, we are free", not realizing that what Obama in his lack of geopolitical experience, ideological guilelessness, and ineptitude, had unleashed with his opening of the "Egyptian Arab Spring Pandora's Box" were all the venomous Islamist crawlies kept in check by Mubarak, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, which Obama set "free" to wreak new havoc in the region and the world, renew the violence and terrorist attacks on Israel, and further destabilize the Middle East powder keg - even as we are witnessing unfold now!

When a smug, and self-satisfied Obama, all full of himself, stated in front of the cameras how ...

"Egypt would never be the same"
... he didn't realize how "doomsayer" prophetic he was waning!

Ironically, he began the speech by saying that ...

"The people of Egypt have spoken..."
If only Obama would extend a similar recognition to the Tea Party that opposes his daft leftist political agenda presently destroying our nation, and much like he urged Mubarak to step down, do so himself!

Even as Obama cheered the so called "Peaceful Demonstrators" in Tahrir Square, and turned his back on Mubarak, dismayed Israeli officials and Israeli commentators, shocked by Obama's betrayal of Mubarak, remarked how if Mubarak was toppled Israel, as well as America, would lose one of their few friends in a hostile neighborhood, and that Obama bears much of the blame; as Reuters' Douglas Hamilton observed in his article of January 31st, 2011:

"Political commentators expressed shock at how the United States as well as its major European allies appeared to be ready to dump a staunch strategic ally of three decades, simply to conform to the current ideology of political correctness."
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told ministers of the Jewish state to make no comment on the political cliffhanger in Cairo, to avoid inflaming an already explosive situation. But Israel's President Shimon Peres is not a minister."

" 'We always have had and still have great respect for President Mubarak,' " he said on Monday. He then switched to the past tense. 'I don't say everything that he did was right, but he did one thing which all of us are thankful to him for: he kept the peace in the Middle East.' "

"Newspaper columnists were far more blunt."

"One comment by Aviad Pohoryles in the daily Maariv was entitled 'A Bullet in the Back from Uncle Sam.' It accused Obama and his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of pursuing a naive, smug, and insular diplomacy heedless of the risks."

How descriptive of Obama and the asinine policies of his Administration on every front, that are making of his presidency an utter, and rotund failure, that is being disastrous not only for America, but the world!

Even Huff Post World - part of the servile Mainstream Media Obama propaganda machine - reported on its February 3, 2011, piece entitled "Barack Obama's Egypt Response Slammed In Israel" the astounded Israeli reaction, quote:

"President Barack Obama's response to the crisis in Egypt is drawing fierce criticism in Israel, where many view the U.S. leader as a political naif whose pressure on a stalwart ally to hand over power is liable to backfire."

"Critics - including senior Israeli officials who have shied from saying so publicly - maintain Obama is repeating the same mistakes of predecessors whose calls for human rights and democracy in the Middle East have often backfired by bringing anti-West regimes to power."

"Israeli officials, while refraining from open criticism of Obama, have made no secret of their view that shunning Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and pushing for swift elections in Egypt could bring unintended results."

Israeli lawmaker Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, who until recently was a Cabinet minister, commented:
" 'I don't think the Americans understand yet the disaster they have pushed the Middle East into,' "
Though not made public, assuredly concerned Israeli diplomats and officials must have pointed out to the Obama Administration the fallacy of supporting the populist uprising in Tahrir Square and of pursuing a regime change in Egypt that would result in the power vacuum left by the departure of Mubarak, that will most likely be filled by the Muslim Brotherhood and other populist Islamist extremist elements; but then, such warnings fell on the "deaf ears" of the most viscerally anti-Israel president in our history!

Now, as the terrorist attack that killed those innocent eight Israelis, the renewed violence and rocket attacks from Gaza, the Israeli retaliatory response in turn, and the escalation of hostilities demonstrate, the Israelis were right in their guarded assessment, and Obama was wrong....deadly wrong!

But it even gets more ominous and foreboding! Obama's naivete colored by his Muslim sympathies, his lack of judgement impaired by his collectivist ideology and Marxist leanings, his total incapacity within the geopolitical arena, and his indecisiveness and ineptitude as a leader, have set in motion events that may well ignite and impel us into a war in the Middle East of Apocalyptic proportions!

Now, even as Israel reinforces its naval presence in the Red Sea as a preemptive measure against terrorist attacks originating in the Sinai, a belligerent Iran - the growing nuclear threat of which Obama has also failed to deal with decisively, even though he's willing to sit with Iranian madman Ahmadinejad to have "tea and crumpets" with him - is sending its submarines and ships to the area, in what can only be termed an act of open warmongering provocation, as reported on The Blaze by Tiffany Gabbay:

CAIRO (The Blaze/AP) -- "An official Iranian news agency says Iran is sending a submarine and a warship to the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea."

"Press TV quotes the commander, Rear Adm. Habibollah Sayyari, as saying the deployment will serve the country's interests and 'convey the message of peace and friendship to all countries.' " [Yeah, right!]

"The item on Press TV's website Tuesday said the presence of the Iranian navy would 'tighten security for all countries.' " [That Iran has no business "tightening security" for.]

"Sayyari said the ships would also fight against pirates."

"Somalia, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden, is a base for many pirate gangs. The body of water is south of Iran."

"Interestingly enough, however, Iran's action comes on the heels of Israel sending two additional warships to the Red Sea border with Egypt following warnings that militants are planning another attack on southern Israel from Egyptian soil."

This move by Iran, whose leaders have numerous times publicly sworn their commitment to "wipe Israel off the map" can only be seen as an act of Iranian expansionism and belligerency - emboldened as they are by Obama's tepid response (whom the Iranians rightly consider a "joke"") to Iran brazenly pursuing nuclear capabilities, and continuing to enrich uranium, in the face of endless U.N. resolutions and toothless sanctions. Simply put, it is a thinly-veiled act of war against Israel, as Iran flexes its military muscles, and asserts its dominance and increasing political influence over the region.

Let us pray that the snowball Obama rolled down the slope of unintended consequences, when he betrayed Mubarak, and supported the Egyptian "Arab Spring", doesn't become the great avalanche that will engulf us all in a world conflict the likes of which humanity has not yet seen in spite of all past horrors!

Missing Mubarak yet?
