Rasmussen Consumer Index: Only 7% Rate U.S. Economy As Good or Excellent

Topics: Political News and commentaries

According to Rasmussen, only seven percent (7%) of adult consumers rate the U.S. economy as good or excellent, while 68% give it a poor rating:

... 49% of Likely U.S. Voters are more worried that the federal government will not do enough in reacting to the nation's economic problems. That's the highest finding in nearly three years of surveying. Thirty-six percent (36%) are more worried that government will do too much to try to fix the economy, the lowest level of concern to date. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure which worries them more.

[...] Recent polling finds that more voters than ever worry that the federal government will not do enough to help the economy.

Just 37% now have confidence in the stability of the U.S. banking system. That's down from 68% in the summer of 2008 and the lowest yet recorded. The previous low of 39% was found in February 2009.

At a time when economists and others wonder if the U.S. is about to enter another recession, most Americans believe the recession never ended. Just 13% believe the jobs market is better than it was a year ago while 50% say it's worse.

LIttle wonder that confidence in the president's handling of the economy is in free-fall.
