While we're talking about cutting spending and saving the government money ... how about the $2 trillion that regulatory burdens cost our economy - which translates to fewer jobs and less revenue to the federal government? As the Center for Freedom and Prosperity points out, there are thousands of examples of the burdens placed on the economy and ordinary citizens, who see costs soar in response to excessive government regulations.

A recent report from the Competitive Enterprise Institute called Ten Thousand Commandments: An Annual Snapshot of the Federal Regulatory State, cites a study which concludes that the 81,405 pages of the Federal Registry, which houses all the Washington imposed regulations, cost the economy $1.75 trillion in 2008.
Simply put, big government is bad government, as explained by these CF&P videos. Keep in mind the more that regulatory burdens cost the economy, the fewer jobs there are and that there is less revenue available to the government to pay its bills and reduce its debt (so long as taxes remain not only moderate, but also stable):
