(Video) Brit Hume on Fox News Sunday: 'The Obama DOJ reminds me of the Nixon Justice Department'
Topics: Political News and commentariesAs the investigation of Operation Fast and Furious, the international gunrunning scandal that Obama administration officials still refuse to answer to, yesterday Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume perfectly characterized the ongoing scandal as it is, exactly: "This Obama Justice Department reminds me of nothing so much as the Nixon Justice Department":
Over at Hot Air, Tina Korbe points out that Hume's commentary follow after Kenneth Melson, acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, last Monday gave secret and exclusive testimony to congressional investigators Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) to the effect that ATF was not the only agency involved in the scandal, taxpayer money was used to finance the gunrunning and Department of Justice officials explicitly instructed ATF officials not to respond to congressional inquiries.
Which brings us to a point made by a commenter at the YouTube posting. Comparing the Obama DOJ to the Nixon DOJ casts the Obama DOJ in a better light than it deserves. Nobody died because of Watergate. There's a big difference between breaking into a hotel room in an attempt to get the names of Democrats who had paid for hookers and using taxpayer money to buy guns to give to Mexican drug dealers resulting in the death of at least one US law officer.
