US Housing Crisis Now Worse Than Great Depression
Topics: Political News and commentariesIf you've checked the price of your house lately and found that home equity has sunk like a rock ... you're not alone:
Prices have fallen some 33 percent since the market began its collapse, greater than the 31 percent fall that began in the late 1920s and culminated in the early 1930s.... "The sharp fall in house prices in the first quarter provided further confirmation that this housing crash has been larger and faster than the one during the Great Depression," ...
So we can now add this to the growing list of economic reasons to replace the current occupant of the White House: Gasoline prices around the $4 a gallon mark, falling consumer confidence, falling housing prices, falling growth in manufacturing, and rising joblessness, and having contributed $6.4 trillion to the national debt by the time he (hopefully) leaves office in 2012.
