RINO Mitt Pledges Support For Ethanol Subsidy

On the one hand we have Tim Pawlenty telling the people of Iowa hard truths about how idiotic it is to subsidize ethanol, while on the other we have RINO Mitt Romney, founder of Obamacare, going the other way and trying to buy Iowa votes by bowing down to King Corn (hat tip - Doug Mataconis):

Bombarded with questions following his talk at the Greater Des Moines Partnership's Presidential Forum Speaker Series, the former Massachusetts governor told the gaggle of press and fans today that he supports the production of ethanol.

"I support the subsidy of ethanol," said Romney, working his way through the Des Moines crowd, where he shook hands and doled out autographs. "I believe it's an important part of our energy solution in this country."

The ethanol debate is likely to be the first of many opposing policies the two GOP presidential hopefuls will have as they battle for the nomination.

Not only does it expose what he means by fiscal conservatism, it exposes the true Romney - a liberal Democrat masquerading as a conservative.

It also exposes Romney's terrible understanding and lack of reason relative to the ethanol issue.

As we pointed out in a previous post, if being given a new source of fuel that has 1/3 the energy of your gasoline in return for dramatically decreasing the food supply and you ending up spending more cash on gasoline (and taxes to subsidize it) to make up for the lost power from this new fuel additive, sounds like a deal to you, then you should absolutely love ethanol. Then, on top of this deal, if once we've obliterated metric tons of food production and governments all over the Middle East become destabilized and disrupt the original supply of fuel we were using before you were offered this grand bargain, and you still like it ... then ethanol is definitely for you.

On the other hand, if all of this sounds a bit loony to you and a terrible idea, then you should take the time to learn more on the how and why ethanlol damages America.
