Re: "Racism In The 21st Century Coming From The Left"

Topics: Political News and commentaries

In her excellent, 'must-read', article of Tuesday May 24th, 2011 in the Irish Examiner, titled "Racism In The 21st Century Coming From The Left", writer Alicia Colon takes a hard look at the touchy subject of "race relations" in America today, in what allegedly was supposed to be the most "post-racial" Administration ever.

In her article Miss Colon keenly observes how nowadays the word "racist" and "racism" is, as she puts it, "bandied about frivolously" at anyone who has the temerity of making the smallest critique of Obama, and or disagrees with his socialist policies; in light of which, she proposes, tongue-in-cheek, that perhaps we should change the meaning of the word "racist" in our dictionaries to accommodate this new "politically correct" absurdity on the part of the Left and of Obama supporters:

"Perhaps we need a new definition of the word racism because it is now bandied about in a frivolous manner by race baiters who've never undergone its scourge. All we need to do is look at the history of racism in this country particularly in the South to get a real perspective of the pain suffered by blacks during that dark period. Those who underwent that torment are for the most part deceased but their pain has been exploited by modern day race-baiting demagogues who've benefitted by the changes in our civil rights and in the hearts of most Americans."

"According to dictionary.com, racism is described as: 'a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.'"

"Another meaning given is: 'hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.'"

"In 2008, America elected a black president, Barack Hussein Obama which should have been an indication that we are now living in a post-racial time but progressives in politics, the mainstream media and the entertainment industry have now defined racism to mean any criticism at all of their chosen black icon or his agenda."

Miss Colon could not have said it any better! Also, the point she makes concerning the definition of racism as the belief "that one's own race is superior to others" begs the question of whether it may not be Obama himself who is a "racist" given his narcissistic air of superiority and the disdain with which he refers to those white, small town, ordinary Americans that, in what undoubtedly he perceives as their ignorance, "cling to their guns and Bibles"! For one thing, it sure seems that Obama feels "superior" to other Americans, in his conceit.

She then berates the "Welfare Pimps," rappers, entertainers, and those on the left, that perpetuate the "racial chip" on their shoulders in order to keep milking the "race card" cow:

"Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, rappers and other prominent progressives perpetuate racial hatred and generate white guilt because this is what keeps them in the public eye"
And she goes on to remark on the irony that the Democratic Party now be the one that cloaks itself in the mantle of "Civil Rights" "Affirmative Action" and as the "Defenders of Minorities," when in fact it was the Democrats who legislated "Segregationism" and enacted the "Jim Crow" laws in the South at the turn of the last Century, and only reinvented themselves, when they were forced to, in the face of the Civil Rights Movement, and in order to exploit the "Great Society" welfare "Gravy Train"... all in "love" with the very same blacks they would not have shared a water fountain, or a bus seat with, a decade earlier:

"The Democrat Party has been instrumental in cloaking its racist history and using it as a tool against the GOP, which ironically is the true champion of civil rights. By fomenting and exploiting past racial injuries, it has managed to keep blacks on the government plantation with entitlement programs presented as something due them for past grievances."

If I may add, it is a delicious irony, that for all Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is evoked by the likes of Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and all their aging, increasingly irrelevant, "Welfare Pimp" ilk - living off the "Laurels" of their past Civil Rights Movement days - they don't mention the fact that Dr. King was actually registered as a "Republican"!

One thing is certain. America was well on its way to being "post-racial" before Obama was elected. As witnessed by the fact that It is the fad nowadays for young people of every ethnicity and background, to emulate black mannerisms and idioms, listen to "Rap" music, dress in the baggy "Gangsta" style of the "Hood." And Pop Culture celebrates all things "black" as trendy!

And this helped him get elected, even though aside from the color of his skin, Obama does not really share in the legacy of the average "African-American" per say, since in reality he's more of a First Generation Scion of a Kenyan national, who was raised in relative middle class comfort by his white grandparents, than someone whose ancestors, or personally, have lived the African-American experience; and that he sports, to boot, a Muslim name that presumably would have been deemed suspect, and not too palatable to many Americans, in the aftermath of 9/11, involved, as we are, in a war against Muslim extremists and Jihadist terrorists. And yet, Obama won, and not by a narrow margin! So much for America still being so "racist"!

However, given the way that the Obama "moonbats" and the Obama-lapping Mainstream Media keep playing the "race card" at every turn, to deflect any and all criticism of their "Anointed One", and or of his policies, accusing anyone that disagrees with Obama or dislikes his policies of being "racist", and the way "reverse racism" is being played out in many areas of our daily lives nowadays, I would venture to say that Obama's presidency has been rather detrimental than helpful to race relations in America, even though he's our first black president, and had every means at his disposal, obviously including his victory at the polls, to have truly bridged us to what could have been a new era of post-racial relations.

Yet, instead Obama has been one of the most divisive presidents ever, has made of "race" a factor in every political skirmish he's involved in, and with all the racial baiting, the partisanship run amok, and all the skewed favoritism towards blacks and minorities - such as shown by Attorney General Holder in the Philadelphia Black Panther voter intimidation case, he and his sycophants have awakened more dormant racial animosities, and elicited more racial resentment on the part of every day Americans than anyone could possibly have ever envisioned at his Inauguration!

Let us hope whoever follows Obama as president can undo the damage he's done in this respect, and turn us around back on the road to healing our differences and remembering that after all, and in spite of whatever the color of our skins may be, we are "One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty And Justice For All...."
