The United States is a huge country. Running from the Pacific to the Atlantic, from the Rio Grande north to Canada, it contains some 3.8 million square miles. By contrast, Israel is measured in the thousands of square miles, well under ten, in fact. Even that gives little indication to the true size of the country, because of its long and narrow placement, surrounded by enemy nations committed to its destruction.
For example, while the current width of the nation is only about 45 miles wide at some points, the pre-1967 size of the country was only eight miles wide at a particularly vulnerable central point - nearly indefensible then, likely completely indefensible today. And yes, foolish though Obama is in so many ways, he and his administration most certainly do know this.
