'Golfer-in-Chief' Hits the Course on Memorial Day

Topics: Police Brutality and Corruption

obama golfer in chief.jpgBack on June 22, 2010 The Washington Times ran an editorial titled "The Golfer in Chief" which noted that Mr.Obama was well on his way to being the 'golfingest' president in recent memory and that the White House invited criticism of the president's leisurely approach to his job when spokesman Bill Burton criticized BP CEO Tony Hayward for taking his yacht out for a race; this as Mr. Obama was enjoying himself on the links with the vice president.

Clearly, nothing has changed since then, and in fact Obama has extended the label of the 'golfingest' president in "recent memory" to by far the most golf-mad of all the Presidents in history - to the point of even playing golf as US special forces prepared to kill bin Laden.

Now it turns out that after he finished the business of memorializing our war dead yesterday, President Obama headed out to the Fort Belvoir golf course, finding his way onto the links for the ninth weekend in a row ... the 12th time this year and the 70th time of his presidency. As Keith Koffler points out over at White House Dossier, the decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.

Put a bit more succinctly, Barack Obama has golfed 46 more times (8 more by April 19, 2010) than George W. Bush - who was mocked and criticized by the Left - did in his entire presidency. Apparently, in the convoluted logic of the Left ... GW golfing - a bad thing ... Obama golfing far more times - a good thing.

Go figure!
