Apparently, bin Laden was 'hiding' in plain site (Updated)

Topics: War on Terror

And by 'hiding' in plain site ... I mean literally right smack in the middle of a Pakistani military cantonment in an area where much of the land is controlled or owned by the Pakistan Army and retired army officers.

Hmmm..., either the Pakistanis have the most clueless military and intelligence services in the world, or ... via WikiLeaks - Pakistani security forces were helping Osama bin Laden evade American capture all along.

American diplomats were told that one of the key reasons why they had failed to find bin Laden was that Pakistan's security services tipped him off whenever US troops approached.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISID) also allegedly smuggled al-Qaeda terrorists through airport security to help them avoid capture and sent a unit into Afghanistan to fight alongside the Taliban.

The claims, made in leaked US government files obtained by Wikileaks, will add to questions over Pakistan's capacity to fight al-Qaeda.

[...] But bin Laden was eventually tracked down and killed in compound located just a few hundred yards from Pakistan's prestigious military academy in Abbotabad.

Simply put, our so-called "ally" in fighting radical Islamic terrorists to whom we gave $20 billion in direct overt US Aid and Military Reimbursements to in the period FY2002-FY201, alone, has been lying to us all along and protecting the guy who planned and funded the murder of 3,000 Americans.

Looks like we've just found the first place to start cutting our deficit.

Update ... it gets worse. Turns out that Gulf News is reporting that the compound in Abbottabad where Osama Bin Laden was killed was once used as a safe house by Pakistan's premier intelligence agency ISI.
