Puhleeze Tell Me This Isn't True

Are their really reports about Republicans signing off on just $34.5 billion in cuts?

If so, then as W. James Antle, III notes at American Spectator, whatever else can be said about them, "inflexible" surely doesn't apply.

And whatever the hell happened to Speaker Boehner's talkity-talk about not budging when it comes to cuts?

Surely, James must be mistaken. The only reference to Boehner and $34 billion I could find is here, and it's just a quip. Maybe he's referring to Maryland's House-Senate conference committee.

Besides, if Boehner had agreed to a $34 billion cut, cable news would be all over it and the HuffPo would be celebrating.

Given the degree of Obama's excessive spending and the deficit we already face, anything less than $100 billion is a cave-in, $34 billion would be 'bending over and dropping his pants'.
