In his aptly titled piece this morning, You're kidding, right?... Andy McCarthy offers a more sobering perspective on the budget deal than the rather rosy one many on the right are spinning:
So three cheers for the GOP's steely resolve in achieving a whopping $40 billion in spending cuts. Better yet, ten cheers: one for each of the ten days it will take Leviathan to borrow more than this budget deal cuts. He's right, of course. Ten days, folks. Just ten days. That's all months of wailing and gnashing of teeth bought us.
Meanwhile, as the debt clock ticks at $14.3 trillion ... and counting, Obama's budget now adds (after the meaningless cuts) $9.46 trillion more to it ... give or take some chump change (adding $1.6 trillion to the deficit over this fiscal year, alone).
Put another way, the debt increased $54.1 billion while Congress fought over cutting $38.5 billion.
That's nothing short of fiscal and economic insanity. Where are the adults?
We are all so screwed.
And Planned Parenthood still gets taxpayer dollars for killing babies (and no matter how the left tries to spins it away ... giving any funds to an abortion provider has the effect of supporting its ability to provide abortion services).
