On The "Twelfth Night; Or, What You Will", Of The Budget Fight, Or "Much Ado About Nothing" - A Parody
Topics: Humor, Political News and commentariesIt can be surmised after the dust settles and all the gesturing and the affectation stops in Washington, that all the drama that we have witnessed in this debacle about avoiding a government shutdown on account of the paltry, insignificant, 30 to 40 billions of dollars in cuts in discretionary spending being debated (out of the stench of the bloated, decomposing, corpse of a multi-trillion dollar budget tainting and poisoning the waters of our future), has been but "Much Ado About Nothing," and - just like a twisted parody of one of Shakespeare's plays - but a comedy of errors about two quarreling lovers - House Majority Leader Boehner, and Senate Majority Leader Reid - who now at the conclusion of the fracas, but kiss and make up after Boehner's "Taming of the Shrew", if not quite on the "Twelfth Night", at least on the eleventh hour....well, sort of.
But what is really disgusting about the whole play, is how Reid, in order to keep the pithy 360 million dollars to fund the ABORTIONS of Snooki and the "Merry Wives of Windsor" was willing to undergo the austerity, and sacrifice, of billions of dollars in cuts, elsewhere, in the quarreling lover's budget! Talk about Boehner's "Love's Labour's Lost"!
And so, in the end, after all the "Tempest", we are left with a bitter taste in our mouths, after we have had to endure the grueling farce, at the edge of our seats, to basically accomplish NOTHING! But then, "All the World's a Stage", isn't it? Though, "Measure for Measure", and in my opinion, Washington, once again has amply proven, that more than a stage, it is ... to put it nicely ... a house of ill-repute!
And thus, we must laugh at this buffoonery, in order not to weep, and come to the sad conclusion, that though avoiding the government shutdown, not "All's Well That Ends Well."
