Breaking: Deal Struck, Shutdown Averted

Topics: Political News and commentaries

As though it was ever really a question ...

Fox News reports:

DEVELOPING: Congressional leaders, with barely an hour to go before a federal government, announced late Friday night they had reached a deal to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year.

House Speaker John Boehner, speaking briefly to reporters after talks had concluded, said the plan was to pass one last short-term spending resolution Friday night to buy lawmakers the time needed to prepare and pass the final budget bill.

More to follow....

They might as well not even wasted the time to negotiate ... nothing was really accomplished. We're talking about what looks to be a $39 billion deal when we're spending $50 billion a week. And as Ace notes, that's not even what we're spending per week - that's just the part we're spending but not paying for. Whatever happened to the GOP's $100 billion they set out to cut.

James Antle is hearing that the Senate will be required to hold up-or-down votes on Planned Parenthood and Obamacare funding.

Beldar offers a bit of perspective on the deal and Obama's subsequent spin.
