Video seizes on AFL-CIO leader's boast of daily contact with White House
Topics: Political News and commentariesThe Workforce Fairness Institute has seized on AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka's boast that he meets at the White House several times a week and talks with someone from the White House "every day" to depict President Obama as being especially cozy with organized labor ... which just happens to be a fact (according to The Hill, a cursory glance at the latest White House visitors' logs features Trumka's name 53 times ... and Obama has stated that the SEIU's agenda is his agenda):
Union bosses, after supporting their political allies over the last few elections, want "payback" at the expense of job creation and worker rights. And today, the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) launches a new Web video demonstrating how much access the labor bosses really have. Watch American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) President Richard Trumka brag about his access to the White House. He is not shy about his ability to seek "payback" and promote job-killing policies at the highest levels of government.
Trumka: "I'm at the White House a couple times a week -- two or three times a week ... I have conversations every day with someone in the White House or the administration ... and that includes weekends, by the way."The Hill reports that organized labor has typically been one of the largest outside groups to spend and mobilize voters on behalf of Democrats, particularly in 2008 to elect Obama and a Democratic-controlled House and Senate.
Meanwhile, the President's message to the American people is simple: I don't care about balancing the federal budget. I don't care what the voters had to say in November. I will spend money to depose of elected officials I don't like. Because Big Labor told me to.
