The Telegraph: Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links

Topics: Political News and commentaries

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Obama administration trys to spin away this admission:

Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi's regime.
Nothing to worry about, of course. After all, al-Hasidi (who admits that he had fought against the U.S. in Afghanistan) says his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists" ... although it seems to me we've heard this line before.

In light of this, the news today that the U.S. is looking to supply the Libyan rebels with weapons is all the more troubling, or at least it is to me and should be to the the few in the administration that actually have a genuine commitment to common sense.

And besides, haven't we been down this dark road before?
