Rand Paul Defines 'Extreme' For Shchumer And His Fellow Democrats

Topics: Political News and commentaries
Senator Rand Paul has responded to Sen. Chuck Schumer's wild accusation and caucus talking point that the Tea Party and conservative members in Capitol Hill are "extreme." He appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to talk about the upcoming budget battle and the hype about a government shutdown:
"What's going on in Washington now is extreme. Having a $2 trillion deficit in one year, hundreds of billions of dollars in interest, we're borrowing $4 billion a day ... what Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are doing to this country - that's extreme"!
Gretchen Carlson of Fox & Friends asked Paul about the Washington Post article that says Speaker of the House John Boehner is seeking moderate Democrats to pass cuts that are not big enough for conservative Republican members, and suggested that if Paul votes against the proposal by Boehner, wouldn't that put Boehner in a box? Paul's response:
"We need a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. If people call that putting someone in a box, by all means, let's put them in the balanced budget box."
Paul's 100% correct. By all means, if that's putting Boehner in a Box ... put him in a box. The government can no longer spend more than we take in ... the end point of such an exercise is clearly national bankruptcy. (Hat tip - Jennifer Cubachi)
