Obama to Business Leaders: Corporate Profits "Have To Be Shared By American Workers"

Topics: Political News and commentaries

He claims he's not a socialist, yet this morning he told the U.S. Chamber of Commerce:

"If we're fighting to reform the tax code and increase exports, the benefits cannot just translate into greater profits and bonuses for those at the top. They have to be shared by American workers, who need to know that opening markets will lift their standard of living as well as your bottom line" ...

Note not a word was said about the shareholders, but he's telling the corporations what they must do with their profits in a free market system with supposed free competition for labor and markets.

On the other hand, the liberal progressives argue Obama's "not demanding anything specific from the business community, but instead merely encouraging them to realize the benefits in helping to raise the "tide" so that "all boats" can be lifted in the future" ... which is, of course, not at all what he really said.
