If you've wondered why the peace talks fail ...

Topics: Middle East News and Perspectives, Terrorism

The answer may be more simple than you think. The Palestinian "government" never has and never will want peace with the Israelis. Take, for example, the September 2008 talks between Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and Mahmoud Abbas. With the sweetest deal the Palestinians will ever see on the table (including a Palestinian state and unprecedented concessions on the part of the Israelis), Abbas refused to pick up the pen and sign.

They should have taken the deal that was on the table at the time; since then the Israelis have only toughened their position.

The problem doesn't seem to be the Palestinian people themselves, most of whom seem to want peace. Rather, the problem is Hamas and the Palestinian leadership ... which more recently appears to be far more flexible (albeit they should've taken the 08 deal when it was being handed to them).
