Via the NYT (via Outside the Beltway): S.&P. Downgrades Japan as Debt Concerns Spread.

Following the Japanese public debt having risen to more than twice the country's gross domestic product, the largest such ratio among industrialized nations, Japan's sovereign credit ratings has been downgraded from AA to AA-.

As of today, the U.S. national debt will reach 70 percent of GDP, and growing.
