Re: Mitch McConnell's One-Page Bill
Topics: Political News and commentariesA Common sense response to the Democrats' 2,000-page, pork-laden, "Spendibus" bill that spends more than half a billion dollars a page: :
Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell is today going to introduce "a clean, one-page continuing resolution that keeps government funded through February 18th at current spending levels." This, however, is not a capitulation to the Democratic-led Senate -- it's a temporary hold, giving Congress more time to figure out how it should fund the government. "Once the new Congress is sworn in," McConnell said in a statement, "we'll have a chance to pass a less expensive bill free of wasteful spending."But as much a chance of being accepted by the Democrats as a snow ball in hell.
Meanwhile, Monica Crowley points out that there's still time to Stop the Pork-A-Palooza:
There is still time to stop the $1.2 trillion omnibus spending bill, also known as the Democrats' last-gasp pork festival. It's full of "don't know if I should laugh or cry" earmarks, which appropriate billions for such things as mosquito trapping and maple syrup research. For a great working database of the pig-out, please see Senator Tom Coburn's site:Meanwhile, in his quest to ignore the will of the American people and rush through unread and undebated legislation, Harry Reid intends to "Dual Track" New START and Omnibus. But remember: while everyone is focused on the $8.2 billion in crazy-ass earmarks, there is still over $1 trillion in OTHER spending in this bill that no one is talking about. We've got to stop this monstrosity.
Please go to the action center at HumanEvents.com, which will tell you how to call and email your Senator and Member of Congress:
Tell them to vote down the outrageous omnibus spending bill. Let's stop these people before they can spend again.
