Michelle Obama on $4.5 Billion Child Nutrition Law: "We Can’t Just Leave it Up to The Parents"

Topics: Political News and commentaries

In the latest case of our nanny state run amock and out to control 'every aspect of our lives' ... in remarks prior to President Barack Obama signing the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids legislation into law today Michelle Obama said that meeting children’s nutritional needs is â€Å"ultimately the responsibility of parents, adding that the law is necessary to make certain children are properly fed ... but that â€Å"We can’t just leave it up to the parents (Major barf alert for the video):

In typical socialist fashion, and as with most Democrats, the Obamas obviously believe that the rearing of our children should be under the dictate of the state.

CNSNews.com reports:

[...] The legislation was passed by the Senate in August and by the House earlier this month by a vote of 264-157 (in the House, 153 Republicans and 4 Democrats voted no, against the bill, while 247 Democrats and 17 Republicans voted yes). The law, S. 3307, will be administered by the Department of Agriculture, which will craft new school nutrition standards under the law.

The 218-page, $4.5-billion law encompasses a range of provisions, including offering qualified children lunch and dinner at school, the regulation of foods served at schools that receive federal funding, and the funding of research on child hunger. It also includes a pilot program for "organic foods."
