Just another case of Islamist and Leftist cooperationTopics: Political News and commentaries, Understanding Islam
Andrew C. McCarthy, as his "gazillionth case in point" regarding Leftist and Islamist cooperation, points to today's fawning NYT profile of Al Akhbar -- the proudly leftist Lebanese daily (and, like the Times, Wikileaks partner) that champions Hezbollah. The profile seems largely based on an interview with Al Akhbar's "mild and cerebral" managing editor, Khaled Saghieh, who left Amherst -- where he'd been pursuing a doctorate in political science -- to start the paper.
To which commenter DonnaDiorio aptly notes:
Islamists and Leftists make strange bedfellows. That puzzles a lot of Americans, but they have learned to use a communication tool called mirroring. Islamists are mirroring the fears of the politically correct Leftists and American population segments that have a strong victim self-image. Civil rights and religious discrimination. If only this was more understood by the American public, perhaps then "creeping sharia" wouln't be so pervasive.
When the Islamists got together in 1993 in Philadelphia to strategize how to forward their agenda in the United States they called how they would brand themselves for American consumption their "address". They would "address" Muslims one way, but the "address" to the American public and the media would be more carefully crafted. "War is deception," as one leading participant said.
They've come a long way since 1993 and have really learned how to mirror the hypocrisy of the NYT or the ACLU to their full advantage.
It's the ultimate con game and the "marks" hold some of the highest offices of power in the U.S.
