Happy Thanksgiving 2010

I was going to write something very Thanksgiving-ish, as in thanks to God, family, country, our troops, etc., but then after reading about President Obama's Godless, politically motivated, distribute-the-wealth, Thanksgiving message (the GOP thanksgiving message was just as political), I've lost my appetite for being creative.

What I was hoping to hear was something that came close to the quality and mindfulness of the importance of God espoused by Ronald Reagan in his 1985 Thanksgiving Day Address (hat tip - Young Americans for Freedom):

"We have many things for which to be thankful. None is more important than our liberty." .... "Let us thank God for the bounty and goodness of our nation" ... "Let us rededicate ourselves to the preservation of the land of the free, and the home of the brave."

Notice, not a single word about politics in Reagan's entire message!

So I'll leave readers with Monica Crowley's excellent Thanksgiving message and ditto it as my own:

As Americans, today we count our many blessings. We give thanks for our families and friends, our faith, our Constitution and the many freedoms it guarantees, our great and good country, and the extraordinary United States military, our bulwark against tyranny, oppression, and terror.

We are going through tough times, but we are truly blessed in this great land. There is no other nation like it on earth. Never has been, never will be. God blessed America from the beginning. And He blesses us still.

Happy Thanksgiving.
