(Video) Greta van Susteren calls Gloria Allred "insane" and "delusional"
Topics: Political News and commentariesYesterday we introduced Marc Van Der Hout, the immigration attorney for Nicky Diaz, the former housekeeper and accuser of California's gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. As we pointed out, Van Der Hout has a rather shady past, is usually associated with accused terrorists, and as one might expect of such a character (or a person with lack of it) - he has given a fair amount of money to liberal Democrats. Diaz's attorney against Whitman is none other than Gloria Allred, another liberal lefty with a similar shady reputation - one for exploiting people for political purposes and personal financial gain. Like we noted in our post - it all seems a bit fishy. You've got a far-left immigration attorney (Van Der Hoot), leftist personal attorney (Gloria Allred - who is also a supporter of Whitman's opponent Jerry Brown), an illegal alien willing to be used as a political pawn (Nicki Diaz), and a revelation timed just weeks before election day. A cynic might perceive this as a political stunt meant to help a Democratic gubernatorial candidate - and they'd be right.
Last night, Gloria Allred had a bit of a trainwreck on Fox's Greta van Susteren show that resulted in Allred's case being exposed for the sham and political ploy that it indeed is..
Via Ed Morrissey:
Greta van Susteren calls Gloria Allred "insane" and "delusional," and even gets Allred to admit at one point that her client, illegal immigrant Nicki Santillan, won't ever end up in court on this complaint. Susteren calls Allred's ethics into question for exposing the woman and her children -- "putting a big neon sign" on them, in van Susteren's words -- for a case that Allred not only admits she can't win but won't even survive to an actual trial. Meanwhile, Allred keeps insisting that Meg Whitman lied about the letter that her husband saw seven years ago, and van Susteren keeps insisting that any judge or jury would laugh her out of court for that assertion on the basis of a quick note scribbled on the letter by her spouse:
As Morrissey suggests, the best part comes at about the six-minute mark when Greta blasts Allred for harping on how wealthy Whitman and her husband are. "It's not class warfare," van Susteren scolds, accusing Allred of "blackmail." Or, perhaps, it's when Allred instructs van Susteren what "Latinos" think, in a moment of transparent paternalism. There are enough beat-down points here to satisfy anyone.
