Nancy Pelosi Wants To Investigate Funding Of Ground Zero Mosque - "Opponents"?Topics: Political News and commentaries
When I first saw the title over at Ace's, I thought it had to be satire. After all, one would logically assume that there would be calls into the funding behind the GZ mosque, and not even a loony, far-left, nutjob, Democrat would instead call for an investigation of the mosque opponents.
Unfortunately though, it's not satire, and as Drew aptly notes, this is indeed a danger to our fundamental rights - dare to oppose the received wisdom of the ruling class and you'll find yourself on the receiving end of a government sponsored investigation. At least in the mind of Nancy Pelosi:
"There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded," she said. "How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we've been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City."Be sure to read Drew's comments on Pelosi's mind-boggling, Orwellian rant. Then click over to Michelle Malkin who writes there was something else about her remarks that should have raised your hackles.
As a commenter at The Daily News puts it, Pelosi, Reid, and Obama's endorsements for Democratic candidates are going to be about as welcome as a Rolling Stone reporter at the Pentagon or a BP lobbyist at an EPA convention.
This lady (sic) is almost as toxic as Obama.
And as for the building of the mosque and what it stands for, Hirsi Ali points out at the WSJ today that the Park 51 mosque controversy, although framed in most of our public discussions as a narrow question of religious tolerance, is actually a battleground in the broader "clash of civilizations" outlined by Samuel Huntington. She goes on to remind us that "Our civilization is not indestructible. It needs to be actively defended." And she goes on to warn "Our civilization is not indestructible: It needs to be actively defended. This was perhaps Huntington's most important insight. The first step towards winning this clash of civilizations is to understand how the other side is waging it -- and to rid ourselves of the One World illusion."
That "One World illusion" Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaks of, is the predominant view and agenda of Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats in Congress - Pelosi being chief among them.
