Another consequence of Obamacare: insurers stop writing policies for kids

Topics: Political News and commentaries

As Ed Morrissey points out, wanting to protect vulnerable Democrats facing voters angry over the passage of Obamacare, Barack Obama made it a point to roll out the most positive aspects of the bill, one of which was the mandate for insurers to allow parents to carry their kids on policies until their 26th birthday. However, that intervention has created a perverse set of incentives that will see fewer children insured individually.

Unfortunately, this is only one of the many other unintended consequences of Obamacare. Much of it springing from outright lies and deception by Barack Obama himself and his liberal Democrat friends in Congress. Higher costs, longer wait times, inferior care -- essentially every nightmare scenario envisioned by Obamacare critics is coming true. But Obama won't care; he will either be out of office or on his way out the door in 2014 when the bulk of his monstrosity becomes active.
