McChrystal Relieved, Petraeus In

Topics: Afghanistan, Political News and commentaries

So says FNC, and Petraeus will run Afghanistan day to day from CentCom.

Yeah, that'll work, maybe.

If there was ever any doubt that Obama has never had any executive experience and knew butkus about management, let it now be "crystal" clear. Petraeus is damn good, but day to day management of a war requires the manager to be there to interact with both the command and the allies (including Afghans), and to establish relationships. It's not like flying a drone. It can't be done successfully from thousands of miles away. Let's hope that Petraeus ends up going to Afghanistan.

Is it goodbye Afghanistan, hello Taliban? Probably. McChrystal was fired for telling the truth about the civilian leadership and Obama's State Department appointees in Afghanistan. Unless the people and the policies are changed, we are facing a great chance of failing in Afghanistan, with or without Petraeus.
