ABC News: Shazad Almost Got Away

Topics: Political News and commentaries

ABC's Brian Ross reports that "if Faisal Shahzad is a terrorist, he's a clumsy one" in this report.

And Ed Morressey writes that if that's true, then perhaps the effort to arrest him was only slightly less clumsy. Despite knowing his identity and conducting a manhunt for Shahzad, no one flagged him for travel - and Shahzad almost got away. Although the most obvious way to ensure that a terrorist suspect didn't flee the country, no one thought to update the no-fly list. (Ed also talks about the Shahzad's bankruptcy and the odd disappearance of his family.)

As for no one thinking to update the no-fly list, why am I not surprised?
