Radical Move for a Radical Bill to prop up a Radical President
Topics: Political News and commentariesJennifer Rubin on the Dems radical push to ram Obamacare down the throats of the American people:
... This isn't to say that Pelosi can't pull it off. But if she comes up short, she and Obama will suffer a devastating blow. And if she squeaks by, the Republicans have their campaign slogan and a single, overarching issue: Repeal ObamaCare. Two thoughts come to mind after reading Jennifer's piece. One, although Obama portrayed himself as a moderate during campaign 08, anyone with an IQ over 60 and who could read should have known about this man's radical background and known that this man was not only no moderate, but was a far-left ideologue with a burning desire to turn our nation into a nanny state. The second thought is that opinions on the likelihood of repealing Obamacare is mixed. While David Frum, David Harsanyi, Ezra Klein, and even Rush Limbaugh say repealing Obamacare has its problems, folks like Rich Lowry believe it to be possible. Eric Cantor favors what I consider the most likely approach which is to focus on a targeted repeal effort - seeking to repeal the harmful portions that increase costs and hurt the economy (see "How to repeal healthcare reform").Obama is risking his presidency -- for what will be left of his political capital and credibility if he fails? -- on a monstrous tax-and-spend measure that a significant majority of voters oppose, and vehemently so. Pretty radical stuff for a candidate billed as a moderate. (emphasis added)
