More deals (bribes) in health care bill
Topics: Political News and commentariesIt seems that the Democrats just can't help themselves from being sleazy and using every trick in the book, and then some, to ram through a destructive bill that Americans overwhelmingly object to. The Cornhusker kickback is out, but there's plenty of extra money for other states.
And as Matthew Continetti points out, despite Obama's suggestion that the process doesn't matter, the sordid truth about Obamacare is that the process Is the substance of the bill:
Health care reform's inputs - the partisanship, the special deals, the procedural tricks, the budgetary gimmicks - will directly affect its outputs, i.e., its consequences. They are part and parcel of a $1 trillion-plus health bill that will raise taxes, cut Medicare, become ridiculously expensive sooner rather than later, and poison politics for a long time to come. Liberals miss the point. The process is the substance.This is something that liberals just don't get because in their ideological, Alinskyite thinking, the ends always justifies the means.
