Democrats' Abandon Promise of Posting New Obamacare Bill 72 Hours Before Vote (Also plan to circumvent Constitution)

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Remember Pelosi's promise to post the new ObamaCare bill up for 72 hours before a vote?

Well, you can just forget about it, that was a lie. That pledge has now been "softened":

House Democrats appear to be softening their pledge to allow the public 72 hours to review the health care reform package online before a House vote. "We will certainly give as much notice as possible, but I'm not going to say that 72 hours is going to be the litmus test," said Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on Friday.

"The House bill or Senate bill, as proposed, has been online for some two-and-a-half months, otherwise known about 75 days," Hoyer added, referring to the November and December dates each chamber passed its version of health care legislation.

But Democrats could vote as soon as next week on a series of changes to the health care package - called a reconciliation bill - and the number two House Republican criticized Hoyer directly on House floor.

"I'm a little bit taken aback that now that 72-hour rule has been completely cast aside, since nobody in the House has seen what's in the reconciliation bill," said Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Virginia.

But wait till you hear what the reasoning behind this decision is:
Hoyer on Friday said that a three-day posting for the reconciled bill was his preference, but he said the American public had been waiting for health care reform since the time of President Theodore Roosevelt and action must be taken (emphasis added).
In other words, the American people have been waiting for the Obamanation of our health care system since "the time of President Theodore Roosevelt" - and 3 freakin' days is going to make a difference!

However, as irrational and troubling as this sounds, that's peanuts compared to Pelosi deciding it's damned the Constitution, let's use a made-up rule to circumvent the Constitution and schedule a vote next week on a House rule to get ObamaCare passed without one Representative having to vote on the bill.

As Brian Darling notes at the above link, the Pelosi agreement is to allow the House to vote on a rule that will preclude a vote on ObamaCare.

First, the House will take up a rule that will "deem" the Senate passed version of ObamaCare to have passed after the House passes a reconciliation bill. The reconciliation bill is a yet to be released budgetary bill to reconcile current law and it amends the Senate ObamaCare bill. The left assumes that the American people are too dense to understand that they are going to pass an unpopular bill in the House, yet House members can run back to the district and claim they never voted for the bill. Win-win for Members of Congress and lose-lose for the American people. (emphasis added)
This makes since only in the minds of liberal progressive. For them it's always just say anything, do anything, the end justifies the means. The American people should be yelling from the rooftops and jamming the phone lines of the congressmen and congresswomen on this. And need I ask where the media is on this?

If you want to get a message right now to your members of Congress and other key Congressmen - and don't mind paying to do so, one of the best ways is the FaxFire system (H/t - Pamela Geller). Otherwise, you can contact your own representative here.
