White House: Prepare to Be Shocked by Our Incompetence
Topics: Political News and commentariesUSA Today reports that White House national security adviser James Jones says Americans will feel "a certain shock" when they read an account being released Thursday of the missed clues that could have prevented the alleged Christmas Day bomber from ever boarding the plane.
However, trust me, given the Obama administration's failure to block the Christmas Day bomber, its failure to label it a jihadist attack, the Fort Hood jihadist attack (which the WH also tried to treat as non-Islamic terrorist related) - that makes two attacks on the homeland - two more than in all the years following 9/11, nothing about the White House's degree of incompetence is going to shock us.
Except, of course, should the White House actually conduct meaningful self-evaluation and admit to their incompetence and fire the people responsible for this and the Fort Hood intelligence failures - beginning with Janet Napolitano - especially in light of this report by its own Inspector General that the Homeland Security Department's National Operations Center (NOC) is "unable to function."
Update: Dan Riehl also doubts Americans will be shocked, and sees Jones' comments as classic expectations management.
